Pictures From October

In the second half of October, Dan put Dominic and Joseph to work on some old telephone pole crossbars (you know the horizontal part at the top that holds the wires on).  Their job was take off any hardware, so Dan could use the wood for something else.  This job required vise grips, hammers, pliers, wrenches.  Tools!
Joseph and Dominic hard at work.

Go boys, go!

Hammering out a screw.  You can see the buckets of stuff they accumulated behind them.

One day they got to drink some coffee:
I didn't like coffee til my thirties, but they already like it!

Another day, during school time, Anthony busied himself making trails of stuff from his room and the basement all over the house.   He was quiet and didn't bother anyone, but I finally had to put a stop to it when he started getting a bunch of stuff out of his closet.  We had an easier time in school that day!
All through the bedrooms.

Down the stairs and around the corner and through the basement.

And back and forth some more.  What a funny little guy.

We met up with some of our friends for lunch at the park/playground one afternoon.  After they played for a long time on the playground, we all went for a walk around the lake.  Halfway around we came across this large tree with all sorts of lovely branches for climbing.
How many kids can you get into one tree?

Nap time!

After we played and walked, we went over to the library, where we checked out lots of books.  The next day, Catherine showed me something she found in one of the books:
What a fun idea to hide these in random books at the library!

Joseph's Creation

One day, Joseph spent a long time building this Play-Doh creation.   I finally got him to put it away after I took pictures.  The orange thing to the right is a volcano and the red is the lava, of course.  The other is the land around and a lake at the bottom of the flow.

A funny story about Joseph:  Probably close to a month ago now, he made up a game.  He took two decks of cards and hid about half of each one all over the main floor of our house.  Then Dominic was supposed to find them all.  He found some, but for a long time, I kept finding cards in the oddest places.  There was a card in about half of my dresser drawers.  There were cards between the books in a stack on my nightstand.  I would pick something up off my dresser or the floor and there would be a card.  Cards on the closet floors.  Cards in the bathroom cabinets.  I wonder if we will ever find all of the cards!

A Scary Gift

This morning we were reading about the three wise men in school, and I asked the twins if they remembered what any of the gifts were.

Anne proudly said, "Gold, Myrrh, and Frankenstein!"

Food Network Star To Be

Anthony and his onion
Every morning for a few weeks, the first thing Anthony would do when he got out to the kitchen was open a certain drawer where I keep onions, among other things, and get out "his" onion.  He gradually got all of the peel off and he would often have some yucky onion breath.  He loved to carry it around and roll it on the floor.  If it wasn't in the drawer, he would look all over until he found it.  It was the funniest thing.  It literally was his favorite toy for a while.  Finally, however, I got tired of onion peels and onion breath, so his onion disappeared.  And no, I did not use it to cook with.  It was beyond redemption.
