Holy Saturday Fun

Holy Saturday morning was the time for Easter egg coloring.

This year I hard-boiled 5 dozen eggs, a dozen for each child!

They spent a long time getting their eggs just right.

Since our eggs are anywhere from white to light brown to a darker brown, we had a wide range of colors of Easter eggs.

The kids were very proud of their work.

Meanwhile I made apple and cherry pies for Easter dinner.

Early July

Who's hard at work under there?

Mr. Fix-It-Man Anthony!

We had fun at our friends' pool.

Cool fun on a hot day.

The first big picking of green beans.

Ready for the freezer.

One of the first of MANY cucumbers.

Anthony learned how to peel carrots from our garden.

Anthony, Eggs, Beets, Boys and Kittens

A funny little video of Anthony:

In March, we put some hard-boiled eggs (peeled, of course!) into the beet juice left from a jar of our pickled beets.  After a few weeks, we tried them and they were pretty good.  Something else to do with our plethora of eggs!
They look rather pretty.

Dominic was reading Curious George to Joseph and Anthony in this picture:
Three boys not fighting is a good thing!

On the Feast of the Annunciation, March 25th, we came home from somewhere in the afternoon.  The dog came into the garage when we drove in and started acting weird, barking and sniffing and trying to get up high. I instantly suspected what was going on.
See our double stroller hanging high on the garage wall?

Mama cat found a snug place to have her kittens!

When mama cat left for a bit, I took a picture of the five little kittens.

After a while, I moved them down to a box with some old clothes.  The kids were highly excited by all of this.

More June Pictures

In late June, we picked all the cherries off our cherry tree.  Last year we got one cup of cherries.  This year we got enough to make a cherry pie!
Cherries were pitted and ready to go!

The pie with a cherry on top.

I barely managed to get a picture of a piece of pie before we ate it all.  It was yummy!

Catherine used her little patty pan to make a tiny apple pie with the leftover pie dough.

We went to Lego Club at our library at the end of June.  I can't remember what the theme was, but the kids sure had fun.
Joseph and a new friend, with their creation.

Do you see a kid near the top of the tree?
It's Joseph!

We had a wild storm roll through one evening and this is what it left behind:

Our tomato plants had a lot of green tomatoes on them, so one day I made some green tomato salsa:
It was tasty.

Then, on June 28, the girls came excitedly rushing into the house:
They were so proud!

Our very first eggs!
