Early September

Another big melon haul.

That was one huge cantaloupe!

Early to Mid-August

First cantaloupe.

Dominic solved two sides!

Anthony was too young and short for the big slides, so he was stuck with Mommy.

He didn't mind too much, as long as there were snacks involved.

It was a good cabbage year.

Cleaned, cut, and shredded.

Mixed with salt and caraway seed.

Into the crock and pounded, it would soon be ready for sauerkraut-making.

The third Monday in August...

...was the first day of school.

So we took...

First Half of September

Joseph built his Lego airplane all by himself.

Sauerkraut was done!

We saw Bishop Conley at the WSU Newman Center one Sunday.

We had brunch after the Mass with friends.

A good time was had by all.

Garden in August

In early August, we had a sauerkraut-making day:

Tons of shredded cabbage...

...go into the crock for fermentation.

I slogged through mud in early August to pick the cantaloupe and watermelon.  The watermelon got washed off before this picture:

A full load.

These made our dining room table and chairs look small.

Another big load three days later:

The cantaloupe were hit-and-miss this year, some really good, some really bad.

The older three were enjoying their watermelon...

...while the younger two...

... just made faces for the camera.
